Makayla and I believe and have our faith in God the Son, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. In February 2020, the Lord called Makayla to serve as a long-term missionary to southern Thailand. A year and a half later, he called me to Thailand as well. Thus God individually aligned our callings to one nation to preach of the one and only Savior who is the way, the truth, and the life. We desire to have a growing and ever-increasing depth of intimacy with the person of Jesus Christ. We strive to be more like Him; to be sanctified into more of His image as we eagerly await His return.
Yet this waiting is not and should not be passive. We believe Jesus clearly commanded His followers to “Count the cost, pick up the cross, die to self, and go and proclaim to ALL the nations.” As the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 warns us; we will not hide our precious gift of salvation from the world. Rather, our life’s aim and calling is to please our Lord and Savior. We believe we have an apostolic calling, similar to Paul’s, to “make it [our] ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest [we] build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, ‘Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.’” (Romans 15:20-21)
This is precisely why we have followed God’s call to preach the Gospel in Thailand. For His Word says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world…, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:14). Thailand’s population is currently 98.9% Buddhist out of 72 million people. (Less than 1.3% Christian) Many sub-districts have no church and much of the country is still considered, “unreached.” The nation lacks adequate national Christians to take charge of expanding the kingdom of God hence, the need for pioneering workers is great.
This is an entire country steeped in generations of ancestral worship and idolatry. For this reason, we believe this is why the Lord has led us to Thailand. While there are many needs and injustices in Thailand, we personally believe the greatest injustice to exist is that our God is not receiving the worship he is due worthy of. Woe to us to hear the voice of the Lord pleading, “Who will go?” We cannot deny God’s heart that desires all people to know Him. Our hearts reply, “here we are, send us!” Though the task is great, we have a God who is greater.
