“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
Jesus having satiated an un-payable ransom has freed us from the bondage of sin and death. He's done this not that we may now enjoy a newfound privilege in pursuing our own wants and desires, for in doing so we are no better than the nonbeliever; disregarding the Holy Scriptures and disobeying the Holy Spirit. Instead of desiring to be God of our own lives, Jesus leads us and has proclaimed clearly to "Go and preach into all the world.” This is a call from our king, not a suggestion, a command, and not a recommendation. Jesus as our Lord and Savior has saved us and calls the believer to a consecrated life of proclaiming to those still engulfed in darkness, "the excellencies of Him,” our beautiful Lord and Savior.
